I believe advanced technology is typically less expensive and more efficient, but the raw material costs may be higher. The problem is the AI doesn't seem to scrap unnecessary redundant infrastructure.

You probably have higher expectations for the manager tab than actually happens.

While food can be grown for purists, replication is likely and probably improves, thus freeing up huge amounts of land. Realize that agricultural runoff of fertilizers and pesticides and fecal matter contaminates ground water. That is a hidden but huge cost.

The US military currently has an atmospheric water producer from humidity. One can imagine that the creation of water would occur and it would be PURE and untainted so no need for germicidals (except ultraviolet light) and no filtration and no elimination of chemicals. That is a MAJOR worldwide issue. China is in a total crisis due to polluted water just about everywhere except the Three Gorges Dam.

Technology of basic things might vastly improve the pollution effects of groundwater contamination from mining effluent and any solvents. No damage is occuring to the topsoil and that takes thousands of years to make without orchestrated composting. Less garbage is produced...so less landfills.

Everything is connected.

The primary cost in industry is aging workers, so ideally automation and robotics makes the billions on a planet less and less relevant to what can be produced in a sector. Yet this is the primary rationale for a manager tab.

If you subtract the true costs of production through human labor, then no salaries are required, so prices then fall by as much as 50%. Better starships might be made in every category for a fraction of the cost, and dangerously causing the following.
1. Unemployment
2. Robot uprisings
3. Vast war machines of robot soldiers and autonomous starships that can fly in perfect formations in fleets that make few errors.
